When Connie was five years old, her piano teacher, Irena, asked her to sell one poppy to everyone in the neighborhood on Veterans Day. Knocking on doors, asking people to buy and the thrill of having people say "yes" was so fun! She sold out and went back for more. Again sold out. This was just the beginning of her sales career. She went on to delivering afternoon newspapers on her bicycle and remembers being paid $3 for every new subscription. Those were the days that she not only delivered newspapers, she had to collect for the subscriptions. Those two sneaky customers who didn't answer the door, didn't fool Connie.
In high school, Connie typed the newspaper and sold advertising for the Emery County Progress. One Saturday she remembers selling a newspaper ad in less than five minutes and her commission was $45. What a fun way to make money!
Fast forward bypassing court reporting school, working for personal injury lawyers, selling Amway, Connie woke up one day and found herself to be experiencing Sales Call Reluctance. She couldn't pick up the phone. Internet was just getting popular in 1997. Connie did a search and found the best-selling book written by George Dudley and Shannon Goodson, the Psychology of Sales Call Reluctance. She immediately ordered it. Upon reading it, she self-diagnosed that she was suffering from a terrible case of telephobia and social self consciousness Sales Call Reluctance -- two of the twelve types. In October 1997 she flew to Dallas and went through the Fear-Free Prospecting and Self-Promotion workshop facilitated by Behavioral Sciences Research Press. This was the beginning of her amazing journey of becoming a trainer and a coach to help people overcome this career-paralyzing behavior.
In July 1998 Connie became a licensee of Behavioral Sciences Research Press and sold her first workshop to AirTouch Cellular in October 1998 for over $10,000. Not being a statistician, Connie has not kept track of how many workshops she has facilitated over the years, but she knows that thousands of salespeople in diverse industries have been influenced by her work and dedication.
Coaching begins where training ends. Connie knew early on that most people do not change behavior by just going to training. She immediately started coaching each individual for four weeks following her workshop. This has been Connie's unique value from day one. That is why she has so many testimonials of amazing progress because of coaching people individually.
Sales prospecting is not an intellectual exercise, it is an emotional exercise. Connie knows how to coach people through Sales Call Reluctance because the prescriptions are strongly rooted in behavioral science.
